Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated locum tenens physician for an exciting opportunity in Oregon. This position offers the chance to provide inpatient neurohospitalist care in a busy and dynamic healthcare environment. This role requires a physician with a background in neurology who is ready to contribute to a team of professionals in a collaborative setting.

  • Call Coverage : Potential for call coverage required once every 8 weeks (Friday night-Monday morning for 24 hours)
  • Practice Setting : Inpatient, neurohospitalist consulting (not a primary admitting service)
  • Credentialing Timeframe : Estimated at 90-120 days

Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient neurohospitalist care, consulting on a variety of neurological cases
  • Work closely with a neuro critical care team (critical care is excluded from this role)
  • Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers (2 PA/NPs)
  • Potential for call coverage one weekend every 8 weeks
  • Perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
    • Radiologic exam interpretation (unofficial)
    • Diagnostic/therapeutic taps
    • Lumbar puncture
    • Thrombolytic therapy
    • Biopsy procedures (nerve and muscle)
    • EEG, EMG, and NCV testing
    • Spinal/paraspinal/epidural blocks
    • Botulinum toxin administration (Botox)

Requirements:

  • Board certification or eligibility in Neurology
  • Must be licensed to practice in Oregon
  • BLS certification required (ACLS and other certifications are not necessary)
  • Prior inpatient neurohospitalist experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to supervise advanced practice providers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

  • Hospital Certification : Hospital is stroke-certified
  • Trauma Level : Level 2 trauma center
  • Support Staff : Locum tenens provider will be supported by an RN, MA, and office staff
  • Facility Size : 525 beds
