Job Summary

The Scale Operator/Dispatcher is primarily responsible for accurately weighing and ticketing customer trucks entering and leaving the aggregate yard. This position also requires the Scale Operator to confirm orders with customers, to answer customer questions, and to interact with haulers and plant employees. Scale operator will also assist site manager/supervisor with site specific and enforce all safety requirements with haulers and visitors.

Compensation

Responsibilities

• Collecting established fees for cash sales.
• Providing information and directing customers.
• Performing data entry, generating scale tickets, computation, reconciliation, record keeping, and reporting.
• Maintaining a clean, functional and organized work office / scale house.
• Performing additional assignments requested by plant or sales manager.
• Requires heavy customer contact over the telephone.
• Candidate must have a proven track record of excellent attendance and have reliable transportation.
• Learn and follow all CalPortland policies.
• Accurately completes and maintains reports and compliance records.
• Works irregular and extended hours and weekends as needed to meet customer requirement.
• Support miscellaneous administrative activities for the operation i.e. filing and maintaining clerical paperwork/safety records

Education

High school diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be proficient in practical office skills (MS Office products Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Accurate data entry skills
• Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to work
• Able to work in a construction environment which may include airborne particles and moderate to loud noises
• Has good communication, problem solving and leadership skills,
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment, works well with others.
• Flexible work hours including weekends
• Motivated self-starter
• Excellent organizational and people skills
• Ability to work independently

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
